September Superlatives

Content Snacking. Sounds tasty, doesn’t it? When I first heard this phrase, I was intrigued. I imagined that it might be the latest celebrity diet consisting of only eating words which are, as far as I know, devoid of calories and nutrition. However, I’m unable to report that this is the next fad promising a fast track to losing 30 lbs in less than a week. It is, in fact, an emerging trend of providing content in small, digestible bites. Think amuse-bouche as opposed to a big salad that requires a lot of chewing (which can be unbelievably tiring, as you know).

So, why the lesson in digital buzzword technology? September fashion magazines are notoriously heavy (literally) and dense with ads. I wanted to see if i could cull down all of the glossy madness and provide you with what I have deemed the most notable pieces of stylish prescience for Fall. Below are my nominees for this year’s September Superlatives.

And the awards go to…

Vogue for Best Use of a Gold Grill

Kimye isn't the only hippity-hoppity super couple to grace the pages of Vogue. Anna Wintour saw fit to feature A$AP Rocky with his special lady friend, supermodel Chanel Iman. They showed a lot of romantic, swingy silhouettes on Chanel but didn’t answer a burning question that I’ve had about the rapper for some time now. Am I or am I not supposed to pronounce the dollar sign in his name?

Elle for Most Likely to Levitate

This flowery, embroidered frock has magical powers. It inspires feats that defy gravity, as you can see demonstrated by the young chap behind Carolyn Murphy. Doesn’t he look like a bowler-hat-sportin’-Converse-rockin’-skinny-tie-wearin’ angel?

Harper's Bazaar for Biggest Scene Stealer

When Lady Gaga is involved, it’s pretty hard to see anything or anyone else around her. But even Karl Lagerfeld, who interviewed her for the cover story, knew that the real star here was Asia the French bulldog. Don’t be fooled by all of those Orange advocates…Asia proves that Black is the new Black.

Lucky for Best Homage to an 80s Teen Movie

“Supersonic, idiotic, disconnecting, not respecting, who would really ever wanna go and top that”. Well, Lucky Magazine wanted to try when they chose to name their coat feature after one of the best freestyle raps ever recorded. Who among you dared to think that Teen Witch wouldn’t still be relevant over 20 years later?

Marie Claire for Best Approximation of Packaged Meat

Count a Gucci clutch among the things that I never expected to see for sale at the supermarket. I’ve been looking up recipes but have yet to find any with this ingredient. If you find one, please pass my way.

You can feel free to decide for yourself if you’d like to pick up one of these rags for your reading pleasure over the Labor Day weekend.
Have a great holiday, whatever your plans may be and remember…make good decisions!
