The introduction to this post is best summarized by the classic movie The Princess Bride. “Mahwage. Mahwage is what bwings us togevah today.” More specifically I’m referring to the 1st year of wedded amazingness to the love of my life, which we celebrated this past weekend. We had a glorious time recalling all of the joy we experienced on our Big Day. The ceremony, the reception, and the after party far exceeded any expectations we may have had. We chose the sublimely talented photographer Joseph Lin to document this once-in-a-lifetime experience with his unique editorial style.
One of the most special moments of that day still remains the first time we saw each other. I swooned when I saw him looking dapper in his tux, and I remember hoping that he would be equally as pleased with my wedding dress, hair (by Sarah Ann Abruzzo) and natural-yet-special makeup by Laura Nadeau. Ok, maybe “pleased” is too soft of a word, I was hoping he would be stunned with a side of awe-inspired. That’s what I was going for when I embarked on the Search for the Gown.
I knew that I wanted a simple silhouette with a dramatic back. A very good friend of mine picked up what would end up being THE dress right before we were about to leave the showroom. It originally had a high neck that I wanted to have adjusted (I have a slight phobia of things grazing my neck. Y’know, vampires and what not.) and there was more volume on the bottom than I originally wanted. I knew that the perfect dress could be realized in the hands of an expert seamstress, whom I found in Tara the Williamsburg Seamster. The result was exactly what I had envisioned…my dream dress for the best day of my life so far.
